Plain Language Privacy

Your privacy is really important to us. 

 

  • We are registered with the Information Comissioner's Office (ICO) who regulate the processing of personal data.

  • We keep all of our clinical notes about your sessions on our secure, GDPR compliant online management system WriteUpp

​

  • Paper notes can be very helpful during your sessions, however we do not usually record information that would make you personally identifiable (for example your full name, date of birth, address etc) and any notes are uploaded onto WriteUpp within 24 hours and then the paper versions are destroyed.  
     

  • We never use your data for marketing purposes, either for ourselves or for sale to others.  We do not like Spam emails or cold calling, so we don't expect you to either!  If you want to find out about events coming up or keep up to date with the services we offer- please sign up to our Blog and/or keep checking on our website.

  • If you don't show up for an appointment or we need to get in touch with you about your sessions with us, we will do this via phone and/or email- if you don't want us to leave messages, please let us know.

  • During your treatment we may use email for contact, or you may use this website to send us copies of your symptoms questionnaires, this is not mandatory and you can opt out of using the internet for communicating in this way.  Just let us know.

 

  • Your sessions are confidential.  This means that the content of your sessions remains between you and your therapist.  There are however some exceptions that you need to be aware of:

    • If during the content of your session we have reason to believe that you or anyone else may be at risk of harm then we can break confidentiality in the interest of maintain that safety.  That includes (but is not limited to) content legal authorities or loved ones.  Usually we would discuss this with you first and the steps that we are going to take unless we were concerned that this could increase the risk.

    • On very rare occasions we may be required to submit copies of your session notes, if we are legally bound by the courts to do so.

    • All of our therapists are supervised closely to ensure that the quality of your sessions remains high.  Any supervision content is anonymised so that you cannot be personally identified from the discussions.  Our supervisors are also bound by confidentiality.

    • Occasionally we might ask you if we can record your session for supervision.  We will never record sessions without asking you before any individual recording.  Recording are kept securely, reviewed at the next supervision session and then destroyed.  You are not obliged to say yes to having your session recorded.
